I'm struggling to believe the Wii-U can run a game that looks like that for one thing and apparently Zelda is one game not being released in 2016. Would they really wait as long as 2017? It could just be that it's very unfinished and they don't want to pin a 2016 release date on it or that they're leaving it as a surprise. If they're unsure though 2017 is very possible especially if they hit any road bumps. Unless it's not a seamless open world game and instead has tons of zones it's doubtful it'd run well on the Wii-U without the best optimization ever, so maybe it's actually NX footage we've been shown? That would be an interesting way to do it and people would be majorly excited if Zelda was the first game on the machine. Maybe that could explain where titles like F-Zero and Metroid are hiding? They obviously need more in the library than just Zelda to begin with. |

I was going to respond right away, but I wanted to wait and see what other people thought. Apparently, we don't have many Zelda fans on here. Alright, from the rumors and comments that I've been reading, there are a few possibilities. 1) Zelda U will be released on only the Wii U. 2) Zelda U becomes Zelda NX and will only be on the NX. 3) Zelda HD will be a dual release on both the Wii U and NX just as how Twilight Princess was on the Gamecube and Wii. Personally, I want it to be only on the NX for a few reasons. If the NX will be somewhere in between the Xbox One's and PS4's power range as rumored to be, then there will be no limitations and this upcoming home console Zelda game will indefinitely be the best one yet. Regardless, the NX will have to be more powerful than the current Wii U so limitations, if any, will be few. Open world + no loading zones + hoards of enemies and other ongoing events in the background will be hard to push out from a Wii U. I love the Wii U. There are plenty of amazing games to play, just like almost every previous Nintendo console. The Nintendo consoles are known to be rather short on the life cycle in comparison to the competition. Whether you believe the Wii U was a success or a failure, I definitely enjoyed the games I've played and spent my money on. I'm not a fanboy, but I am biased. I have owned a PS4 and currently own an Xbox One. Nintendo will never have all of the games that I want to play, but they have some of the best ones I have played and those that are the most memorable. I'm truly excited and can't wait to see what Nintendo has in store for us this upcoming E3. |

I think they'd do well to release it on the NX if it's going to be ready soon. From what we've seen so far either it's in it's very early stages(the game I mean here) or it's going to be very...empty, as in not a lot of life in the landscape such as grass. As well as that it'd be years before they could churn another Zelda game out for the NX and people would once again have to wait ages for one of the main and most loved if not THE most loved series. I think it'd be very unwise to just have the basic stuff like Mario for the NX's early life people will grow tired of that quickly, evidently many aren't happy with the Wii-U as it is so they need to send the NX out all guns blazing or it's gonna flop unless it's incredibly powerful. |

I doubt it. Unless the footage we saw from 2014 was from an extremely early build of the NX (which is highly unlikely), the footage had to be from a Wii U. Xenoblade Chronicles X runs really well on the Wii U as far as I can tell, and that's a humongous game. Considering it's a first-party game and one of Nintendo's biggest franchises, it'll definitely have enough force behind it to push the Wii U to its limits. They're not giving up on the Wii U anytime soon, so it's here to stay; to have a main Zelda game skip a whole generation isn't their style. |

Nintendo said it would be released on the Wii U next year, and they're gonna stick to their word. If it was pushed back for a later release AGAIN fans would be outraged, and rightfully. Also, many people would feel ripped off if there wasn't a non-remake main series Zelda game on the Wii U. Unless they want to piss off a large chunk of their fanbase, Nintendo will release the game in 2016 and on the Wii U. Though if they for some reason did release it in 2017 and on the NX, they would probably also release it on the Wii U like with Twilight Princess, as as was already mentioned. But I don't expect that to happen, and hope it doesn't as well. |

I think it'll come next year for the U, but if it doesn't it'll probably be for both the U and NX, like Twilight Princess. |

The Wii U gets a lot of slack for performance issues, but I think the new Zelda game will run perfectly on it. It is designed to make use of everything Wii U is capable of and it is a very capable console. |

I can see this also.
See you say that but...they've already announced the NX. Why would they if they had so much faith in the Wii-U? Unless the NX is just a mobile platform and not actually a stage up in hardware they seem pretty ready to move on since the Wii-U has been quite a failure compared to it's competitors. The late Satoru Iwata had to take a 50% pay cut just to pay for it, along with other executives. Maybe they plan to release the Wii-U game as kind of a prologue and then Zelda NX they aim to have looking like the cinematic trailer, be a good way to rev people up though it would also piss many off no doubt. |

I did some research on Xenoblade Chronicles X. A Wii U game disc is 25gb in size. XCX, from what I just read from other people, out of the box looks terrible and the loading times are excruciatingly long. The game released sometime in April in Japan. There are 4 data packs on the eshop that are 10gb in size altogether. I would assume that the main game uses majority, if not all, of that 25gb since they added the data packs. That would be in the neighborhood of 35gb in size for XCX. I would imagine Zelda to be even larger than that since Nintendo has pushed it back to a 2016 release. At this point, it's still only speculation. Is the Wii U more powerful than it is perceived to be? |

Nintendo just announced the NX to keep people calm about the mobile thing, IIRC. It'll still be like, two years until the NX launches. |

More than likely this game will probably just end up being released on both Consoles. It'll probably run harder on the Wii-U and have a more casual and easier performance on the NX, and I can see Nintendo using that to help sell how much more powerful the NX is compared to the Wii-U. I know I know I've been hard on Nintendo, but I hope they stick it out for the rest of this generation and not pull a Sega, because that was one of the reasons Sega ended up pulling out of the Console market, and that very decision was one of the big ones. You have to show the consumers you have faith in all of your products, if you don't then as a consumer...why should we trust Nintendo or any company that doesn't even have faith in their own products. I'm hard on the big three, but can you really blame me? They've been setting the bar higher each generation, which in return raises the expectations of everyone for them to do better than the last time, it just comes with the territory. |

I'll say this again about Nintendo: They should stick to what they know. Venturing into "modern gaming" releasing Call of Duty and those bulls*** games on their consoles is a mistake. Be different, they can afford that. It's not their fault people are becoming more and more stupid. |

I probably would never own another Nintendo Console if they sold out and put Call of Duty on there generations to come. But they don't need to rely on gimmicks to sell their consoles like with the Wii. It may have been one of the highest selling Consoles, but when people realized how gimmicky it was, it didn't do Nintendo any favors. |

Regarding XCX, I concede. After looking into it further, it looks quite bad in the long run, and the additional patches just hog up all the memory. With Zelda, though, I don't think they'll have that problem. They'll only make it open-world as far as they can without it impacting the performance of the game. We've seen games like Mario Kart 8 run without any problem at all at 1080p, and, if it comes to it, Nintendo will delay it to ensure that it releases in a good state. Given the style that they've gone with, it's much easier for them to make the game look pretty, so more focus can be put on the game world itself.
